Playground at Norton Park Plainville

Slide, swing, & splash at this beautiful park!

Kid getting bored of the same playground? Why not try Norton Park in Plainville? Located at 197 S Washington St, Plainville CT 06062

My daughter was at dance right across the street at Dance Inc. and I had an hour to wait with my 4 yr old son. Rather than make him wait around in the lobby of the dance studio, it was a beautiful morning so I took him to Norton Park - so glad we went!

Benches & Picnic Tables Galore

The first thing I noticed is the abundance of picnic tables, benches, and pavilions surrounding the playground. Some parks have a definite lack of seating but not this one! No matter where my son went to on the playground I was able to follow and find a shady seat.

Several Areas of Play

There was a younger kids play area with a brightly colored fish, lots of small sides and those springy ride-on things stuck into the ground. 2 of them had sides for babies and toddlers so they won't fall off as easy. There was also a section of bucket swings.

Other fun climbing and swinging structures were placed everywhere you look! There really was no getting bored at this place. My son loved the variety and I appreciated the various levels of difficulty for older children. There were a few things he wasn't quite ready for and couldn't reach.

When we first pulled in we also saw a skate park and spent a few minutes watching someone fly up and down the ramps!

The MAIN Event!

What immediately caught both our eyes was a long swing-slide that carried you on a twisty-turny and bumpy ride from one side to the other. You start up on a ramp and get to a platform. Grab the swing, sit down, and either you give the kid a push off or they can walk themselves off to a start.

My son thought this was the BEST! The only drawback is that he is too little to bring the swing up to the platform so I had to (several times!) pull the swing back up for him. This probably isn't the best attraction for kids who would have a hard time holding onto the swing as it went up and down the dips in the track.

Pool & Slide

Our first visit here was in mid-September so the pool and side were closed, but from a distance it looked great! Find out more about the pool here: https://www.plainvillect.com/recreation-department/pages/elizabeth-berner-pool
